Now this is a Supernatural promo I can get behind.

Far too often, it seems like all the creativity and money at the CW is going towards promos for Gossip Girl, Melrose Place and The Beautiful Life. As much as I enjoy Gossip Girl‘s saucy ad campaigns, which always get me excited for the new season, I also get a little sad. Where’s the Supernatural love? Well, the CW has finally delivered with this meditative season 5 teaser, set perfectly to the strains of “Oh Death” by R.I.S.E (Rising Appalachia). This show does know death.

Update: E! Online reports, “The version of ‘O Death’ in the Supernatural promo is sung by Jen Titus and was produced and written especially for the show. You’ll be able to get a longer version on cwtv.com in the near future.”

Update 2: Download the song for free here!

Is that Dean in an airplane with an oxygen mask over his face? Knowing what we know about Dean’s fear of planes from “Phantom Traveler,” this can’t be good.

Although I know viewer reaction to her was mixed, I’m quite pleased to see the return of Jo and am eager to learn what she’s doing to Sam. Perhaps a little revenge for “Born Under a Bad Sign?”

Here is the official description for the season premiere on Sept. 10:

APOCALYPSE NOW — Picking up where the finale left off, Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) watch as the Devil (guest star Mark Pellegrino, “Lost”) emerges from Hell. The brothers and Bobby (Jim Beaver) deal with the aftermath of Lucifer rising and the stunning news from Chuck the Prophet (guest star Rob Benedict) that Castiel (Misha Collins) was blown to bits by the archangels. Robert Singer directed the episode written by Eric Kripke (#501).

And don’t forget to check out the season 4 gag reel, which is on the DVD set coming out Sept. 1.

Are you excited yet?
