Katie Holmes’ Career Comes Full Circle — Right Back to J. Crew

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Katie Holmes in a role I’ve genuinely liked. I didn’t dislike her Eli Stone guest spot, but she wasn’t there long enough to make an impact. I didn’t dislike her in Thank You For Smoking, but that’s because the movie is great, not because she was especially great. I think the last film role I really liked Holmes in was Pieces of April back in 2003. But that might change with her new film The Romantics. The plot — a group of friends converge for a wedding where the groom (Josh Duhamel) is torn between his would-be wife (Anna Paquin) and her maid of honor (Holmes) — may not be the most original idea, but the cast is certainly enticing. In addition to Holmes, Paquin and Duhamel, the films also stars Malin Akerman, Adam Brody, Elijah Wood, Dianna Agron and Candice Bergen.

Holmes and some of her Romantics costars recently got together for a J. Crew photo shoot, which is sort of a homecoming for the actress. Back in 1998 when Dawson’s Creek was all the rage, the cast posed for the brand’s catalogs. Check out Katie Holmes in J. Crew: Now and Then below.
